"Bird," acrylic on canvas, 40"x20", © c. 1993 Norval Morrisseau /Click on image to Enlarge/~ PROVENANCE: This painting was done by Morrisseau circa 1993 while he lived in White Rock, B.C. He painted it specifically to trade to a young native fellow for a dead eagle from which he used the feathers on his reglia. On close examination you can see that this painting was painted over another partially competed painting. At the time he did not have a blank canvas but because he wanted the eagle carcass he painted over a painting that was already started. He felt that an image of an Eagle was more approprate. In 2010 the native fellow sold it to Coghlan Art In 2012 it was bought by Karl Burrows of Peter Hayes Art and Travel.
