- A letter by Norval Morrisseau's counsel, Clark R. Purves to Maslak McLeod Gallery (Signed by Clark R. Purves)

-
On Page 1 of the above letter it was stated that Norval Morrisseau had confirmed by sworn affidavit provided to Maslak McLeod Gallery that 37 out of 61 "Morrisseau" paintings reproduced in presented catalogue (see Exhibit No. 13) are outright fakes and that this supposed Norval Morrisseau's opinion was confirmed by other people (?) knowledgeable about his art. It was also stated that in future, these fake paintings will not be accepted for inclusion in the artist's official catalogue and will have little or no value.
-
On Page 2 was stated that as per artist's confirmation, by swom affidavit, four additional "Morrisseau"paintings reproduced on Maslak McLeod Gallery website were also fakes (See Exhibit No. 12). Note that this additional affidavit was issued a month earlier than affidavit as per Exhibit No. 13.
-
Also, on the same page it was stated that Maslak McLeod Gallery knew, or ought to have known, as widely reported in the 'National Post' newspaper article "Morrisseau fakes alleged" dated May 18, 2001 (see Exhibit No. 5), that 23 "Morrisseau" paintings sold at Khan Country Auctions (later known as 'Randy Potter Estate Auction' in Port Hope, Ontario - see Exhibit No. 19) were suspicious as a result of Norval Morrisseau stating in writing that he did not paint them and it was requested that paintings labeled 'fake' to be destroyed or permanently removed from circulation. Note that painting titled "Ancestral Spirit with Evil Serpent", supposedly labeled fake by Norval Morrisseau in 2001, was excluded on April 24th, 2003 from the 'fakes and imitations' list of the Norval Morrisseau's sworn affidavit (click HERE)!?

NOTE: This letter was also sent to the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC) - ATTN: Jane Corkin, President (see Page 2)
